Saturday Bootroom: Return of the Mack

I love the smell of an EPL Bootroom in the morning.

Breathe easy, lads and ladies. The EPL is back.

How long has it been since we felt the unbridled joy of watching EPL (suck it, Barclay’s!) matches on a lovely Saturday morn? When was the last time we awoke early, leaving our loved ones snug in their beds only to wake them up in the 37th minute with shouts of “That’s a penalty, you twat!”?

Sure, we had international friendlies, MLS, the Women’s World Cup to provide us with varying levels of excitement, but it was never the same as seeing our one true love again.

Dive right in, kids, and let the warmth of a new season wash over you.

Yeah, it definitely was a penalty…he got clipped

  2. Wacman

I love that Kevin Keegan refuses to say that it was a penalty. He’d rather go with the far more unlikely idea that Gervinho left his foot out in order to get taken down in order to win a penalty…

  3. Wacman

Kevin Keegan is such a biased cunt lol

The only good thing about that game was that it reaffirmed my faith in Szezcny. Also I found a new favorite soccer bar because Summers really isn’t that good. And now I might be a little drunk for work tonight. Ah well.

  5. Today was a great day, I didn’t have to start drinking at 10a.m. to calm my nerves, and pretty much everyone here is pissed off

  6. Sarah

Oh and Joey Barton won me over this summer with his twittering about Joy Division and whatnot, but now he is back to being a total see you next tuesday.

  7. I heart Joey Barton.
    /poking bears with sticks

  8. Also, Joey Barton as a Gunner would be a good thing for arsenal.

  9. Pradajames

I’m pissed cause Barton wont admit he lost his temper when he grabbed Gervinho. Would’ve been a really soft penalty had it been called. Gervinho embellished the contact, but Barton had no business putting his hands on him. As long as we’re re-writing history, Song should’ve been off as well.

    Toothless. That is all.

TSE, I believe the word you were looking for to describe the match was not “awful”. I think you might have been thinking “hilarious”.

  12. @Ryan: It wasn’t even hilarious. Ugh.

Bad things happening to Arsenal are always funny.

In MLS news, Freddy Adu hasn’t done very much in his return to MLS. 2-1 Dallas at halftime, Brek Shea with a goal in stoppage time.

  14. @Ryan: I’m watching the Philly game. It’s obvious they haven’t had any time with Adu. No chemistry yet. And both FCD goals were just shambolic by the Union.

Crew with 3 unanswered up 3-1 on Revs in the 82nd.

  16. Ryan

So, the Sebastian Le Toux bandwagon is pretty darned empty theses days, eh?

  17. Ryan

Surprisingly, Stéphane Auvray does not appear to be capable of solving NYRB’s woes.

  18. WhoNeedsForwards

I feel more comfortable with my pick of QPR for dead last after today.

  19. Ryan

Any reason Steve Cherundolo has spent both of Hannover’s matches on the bench so far? Just a rest thing?

  20. WhoNeedsForwards

Rest and a little concern over his injury in the summer.
