West Ham pitch-blocked by Tottenham

Cheer up Tottenham fans! West Ham has been blocked (though perhaps temporarily) on their plans to take over the Olympic Stadium, as their deal collapsed. The ongoing legal whinging from Tottenham and Leyent Orient have caused the Olympic Committee overseeing the future transition of the stadium to pull back on the original deal with West Ham.

Now, West Ham will still be able to move into the stadium, but they were become a tenant and not the owner. This is probably a fairer answer to the problem of picking one winner. Also, West Ham should have been complaining that they have no need for an Olympic level running track surrounding the pitch, and wait – we can’t remove it? Why are we here anyway?

Now West Ham will share the stadium with Summer Athletics. I am sure Monster truck shows and open air rock concerts will cause some problems with the Pitch. Congrats West Ham, you may still get what you wanted. Now you may be forced to live with it, and not control it.

Here is a nice timeline on the whole Olympic Stadium boondoggle.

Whelp, that just about kills ENIC’s challenge to get Olympic. The club’s not going to want to be a tenant to a stadium with an athletics track. NDP probably back on in full.

I spot a white elephant in Stratford.
