Sunday Bootroom: Second Division London Derby

This morning may be covered in snow for parts of the US, or may be foggy and lacking of any sunny disposition, but for some reason the day is bright and beautiful. The big Derby was played on Saturday, and Robin van Persie was man of the match. Or as one person said on twitter, “Arsenal needs to start beating top quality EPL teams before they can be considered back.” Oh snap. Or as our Alumni sven tweeted “Impressive result by Arsenal. RvP’s current form is going to make his next 3-month injury that much more a bitter pill to swallow.” Oh how right he is, how right he is. Though MtnWag got a little uncomfortable watching Ateta loving all over Mr. van Persie after goal number #3. Now we know what she watches at night.

But enough about us, the rest of the weekend was pretty perfunctory. The winners won, everyone played as expected, and Grant Holt continues to impress even those from Ipswich. Then again, he was scoring against Blackburn, the Charlie Brown of the EPL.

It’s a slow football day today, and when the MLS playoffs are some of the best soccer matches today, then you can expect many of us to go looking for the Patriots/Steelers matchup. Today get ready for some Serie A to start your morning.

Oh yea, there is a second division London Derby starting at noon. A few of you may enjoy that.

This Palermo game has actually been pretty good… Udinese is cutting them open on the counter but only have 1 goal to show for it

  2. Orr

Setting up for a good finish in Udine, home side up 1-0 with 10 to go

  3. Wacman

    Wow, way to fail

  4. Wacman

Amazing play from Asamoah, his team should’ve paid him back with a goal

Udinese are legit, he’s been great but they’re not totally reliant on Di Natale anymore

Not offside apparently. Ledders with the deflected shot. Right to VdV. What’s he gonna do? Not slot it in the corner? 2-0

  19. Tno

This is a game that will put me in a good mood for a few days.

  20. Tno

    Brad Friedel is so bored.

  23. Tno

    @NYK
I guess sometime too much of something sweet can make you nauseous.

  24. Moonshine Mike

Gareth Bale is a sweet treat you should not have too much of?

  25. Tno

Scott Parker is the Michael Young of the premier league.

  26. Tno

Lol Taarabt off at halftime. Boy he showed us why we shouldn’t have sold him.

  27. Tno

    Let’s Adebayor a goal now.

  28. Adel Taraabt is one of the most frustrating footballers of all time

What if I told you that a man with one knee will be the best defender in the whole country? God Save the King. Friday night at 8pm

  30. Tno

Let’s keep some possession. VdV off in a few minutes. Sandro maybe. Probably Defoe though.

  31. Tno

Bale has to do better there.

  32. Tno

  42. Goat

What the fuck’s up with LA’s pitch and its two skidmarks?

  43. Goat

    NY’s, I mean.

  44. Ryan

I’m guessing it’s from whatever method they used to remove all the snow they got yesterday. No idea.

  45. Goat

I wondered why there were piles of snow near the ad boards in LA.

  46. WhoNeedsForwards

    I’d support a LA Blizzard.

Also, I still think Everton were screwed yesterday.

  47. Ryan

What happened with Everton? I only saw the City match yesterday + the halftime highlights during said City match. The Everton-Man U portion was literally 5 seconds long.

  48. Tno

Fuck Rafa Marquez in the pants.

  49. carlitos

Does Hans Backe remember that he has a bench?

  52. Ryan

2-0 to KC. Colorado down to 10.

  53. WhoNeedsForwards

Fun Italian football fact of the day: With Cesena firing their manager today, if you include the 2 managers who were hired and fired before the season even started, there have been 20 managerial changes in Serie A in 2011.

  54. TrentonPorkRollUnion

Uh, did we just forget how to defend for 90 minutes?
Big respect to the Houston fans who made the trip to the Park last night, by the way.
